TEXTILE INDUSTRY IN SAXONY
Nowadays, the Saxon textile industry is one of the four most important centres of the German textile and clothing industry. Thereby, the Saxon textile region can refer to the following strengths:
- A substantial cluster, i.e. a textile pool in high regional density with all production stages and product sectors as well as high-capacity research and educational institutions
- In-time reorientation of research institutions and of companies towards novel technology, product and application fields
- Highly committed entrepreneurs and highly qualified employees with professional competence coming from long and rich traditions
- High degree of cooperation and comprehensive experience in establishing innovation networks like InnoRegio, NEMO or Growth cores.
Thus, the Saxon textile industry has outstanding pre-conditions to sustain and extend its strong position in the steadily growing market of technical textiles.
