The Cetex Institut für Textil- und Verarbeitungsmaschinen gemeinnützige GmbH (Cetex) is an application-oriented research institution serving the textile mechanical engineering and related processing machines with a more than 50 years old history. It is closely connected to longstanding traditions of textile mechanical engineering in the Free State of Saxony. CETEX is the only German institute having such a profile.

CETEX acts as partner of mechanical engineering in research and development for textile processing, innovative machinery concepts and process innovation in fibre production, fabric formation, finishing and making-up. Hereby, the processing of technical textiles is a special main topic.

Since 2008, CETEX has been an affiliated institute of Chemnitz University of Technology which opens up new perspectives for the existing cooperation. Results of basic research gained by the university are combined with application-oriented research work done by CETEX. Due to the increasing use of endless fibres and textile semi-finished products for reinforcement of light weight structures and production of preforms, the development of novel machinery and handling technologies will be forced.
