Activities in technical and functional textiles are connected to intersectoral technology transfer. A close and interdisciplinary cooperation between producers, customers and research institutions is required. Job specifications for personnel in textile companies from skilled worker and technician to engineering personnel and management have been become more and more complex during the last years.
The change in textile industry from traditional products towards technically high quality products demands an increased employment of qualified and well educated staff. The development of technically skilled personnel able to handle and control complex machinery and plants becomes more and more an important task of the branch.
At the same time the engineering personnel has to be prepared to solve complex and interdisciplinary tasks.
Strategic approaches and concepts for further training of staff already integrated in the company have to be developed. Branch-specific and intersectoral measures should be considered.
