Building and geotextiles

In modern building industry, textiles are used for instance in road construction, to equip buildings and for functional architectural solutions. Textile materials provide weather resistance, resistance against corrosion and harmful substances, compressive and tensile strength as well as stability at relatively low weight. Expensive materials such as steel or aluminium could be replaced at least partially.

For modern building interior insulation of walls and ceilings is one of the most important aspects. Textile systems offer manifold possibilities to save energy and costs. In interior decoration textiles have always been playing an outstanding role – not only from aesthetic point of view. As floor coverings or screen and sun protection they fulfil important insulating functions.

Nearly everywhere, where infrastructure is established or changed, geotextiles are applied. Above all they are used in road construction or for re-cultivation of land area. This product group includes sealing membranes, knitted products, like geo-grids and geo-nets, watertight and airtight nonwovens, woven fabrics or composites. They are suitable for mechanical separation, as erosion protection, for hydraulic filtration, reinforcement and/or fortification of soil with different composition. Furthermore, they serve as drainage media and plant carrier.
